The immense posibilites of the future

As usual, I haven't kept my promise of keeping up with my entries. Is anyone even checking this anymore?

I actually do like writing this... it's a great way for me to put into words what I've been pondering lately. I love the feeling of reading it and being surprised at what I've been thinking without really being conscious of it.

So what have I been thinking lately? Well, first off, I'm bored with my job already. I've only worked here since November, but I'm already finding it monotonous and boring. I know this isn't what I want to do in any stretch of my imagination, but once I'm settled, I can't seem to find the energy to get out there and figure out what the heck I REALLY want to do. There's a guy, Sean Aiken, who had the same feelings that I do and started a website One Week Job to help him figure it out. Check it out. That's what I want to do... not start a website, but figure out what I'm passionate about.

I know I want to travel the world, learn a kazillion languages, meet a billion people, and help make the world a better place (sounds corny, but it I believe it), but how do I do that and justify it as a career? There are a few options that I've considered:
1. Become a travel photographer. I love photography and think that this would be a fantastic career.
2. Go back to school and get my linguistics degree and become a translator.
3. Work with children for an international aid organization, such as VSO Canada

The problem is that I can't decide. I have come to the realization lately though that it will take time to insure that I have a career I love. What I mean is that I hadn't wanted to commit myself to another 3-4 years of school as it would mean that I can't travel for a while. Now I've realized that I may have to be patient and get my education in order to spend the rest of my life traveling. Does that make sense to you?

*sigh* I just don't know

Okay.... okay... okay

So I haven't posted in a while.... I know I know. It's just that I don't really have that much to talk about. I'm not doing that much these days except work. There are a couple new additions to my schedule though, so I'll start there and hopefully I'll be able to elaborate.

First thing that I've added to my schedule is voice lessons. I'm taking lessons now with Sandra Head and she'd FANTASTIC! She's such a wonderful person and I feel like evey lesson I have (which has only been 3 now) I have some sort of breakthrough. For instance, I've learnt that I'm not an Alto as I've been told most of my life, mut in fact I'm a Mezzo-Sorano. This is huge news to me as apparently I am able to sing a lot of the songs I didn't think I was able to and my range has increased already :) This week we worked on my belt as I'm able to belt ok while we are doing warm-ups and exercises, but as soon as I get into a song, I just freeze up and can't do it. She had me sing "Fine, Fine, Line" from Avenue Q which goes up to a "d" and I was able to belt it without hurting myself!!!! Crazy!!! I'm not saying it sounded fantastic, just that it was there which proves that with a lot more work and practice, it may end up not saounding too bad.

She's also working with me on my confidence as that's been a big issue with me in the past - thinking that I couldn't do something and making it the case. Now when I accomplish something that I didn't think I could do, I am able to remember it for next time when I start to tell myself that it's impossible. We'll see how it goes.

What I need to do is get out there and audition for some things just so I can get more comfortable with the whole process again. My last audition was for Louisiana Purchase and that was in December or January of last year, so I'm a little out of practice. I really want to be involved with TUTS this summer and don't want that to be the first auditon I go to as I'm sure if it is I will be nervous.

The other thing that's I've added to my schedule is working out!! I know...crazy!! I always talk about it, but I never do it. I've been running and swimming 3 times a week. At first it was hard to get myself motivated to actually go and do it, but I had a breakthrough last week and it's been a lot easier since then... I actually find myself looking forward to it.... weird. I LOVE swimming so it doesn't seem too big of a challenge to get myself in the water. It's crazy how different it is on me though than other forms of exercise (like running.) I can be on the treadmill for 20 minutes and be breathing hard, but steady, but I do a 1 1/2 laps in a pool and I am gasping for air. Hopefully though in time that will get better as well.

Kaylee and I had out party last weekend and it was a huge success. Everyone looked smashing (as they all had to dress nice) and the place was the cleanest it's ever been!! Even after the party, all we had to do was pick up a few cups and bottles and sweep the floor, and it'd like the party never happened. We do have evidence of it on our counter though in the form of a GIANT cake that is left over. We're slowly giving it away, but I think it's heading for the garbage as there is no way Kaylee and I can eat the whole thing.

What else..... Oh, so the Ovation Awards are next weekend and Seuss got a bunch of nominations!!! So exciting!! Even though it's just a popularity contest, I hear it's a fun filled night and I'm going to see a bunch of people that I haven't seen in ages.... like Sharon and her new bundle of joy!!! Can't wait!

That's all I can think of right now, but I'll try to get back into the habit of weekly updates.

xoxo

Merry Christmas To All!

I can't believe Christmas is here already!! Does anyone else feel like this whole season has crept up on us so much faster than usual? It's insane!! It might have a bit to do with the fact that I didn't get back until mid October, then there was Halloween, finiding a job, learning the job, then suddenly it's Christmas and I'm frantically running around trying to get presents and a tree. It doesn't help either that Kaylee and I decided to paint our entire place 2 weeks before Christmas, but it does look fantastic. Now I just need to organize my room (it's a disaster!!!!!) and scrub down the house. It won't be that bad actually, it's just trying to fit it in with the buying, making, wrapping, and decorating presents that a;so need to be done. Sorry if this seems like a bitter blog, I'm actually really excited for Christmas.... i just wish I had another week before it's here.

On another wonderful note, LAUREN'S BACK IN TOWN!!!!!! Now it's been 6 months since I've seen her!! It doesn't feel like that much as we've talked a lot since then, but when I actually count the months it seems like forever. I haven't seen her since we said goodbye back on June 18th, the day before I left and 2 days before she left. I pretty much wore the necklace she gave me for my entire trip. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU LAURZIE POO!!!!!! I'm going to squeeze your frickin face off!!!!

This week has been pretty good. Kaylee and I got the living room painted and it looks pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. It's very purple, but it suits us wonderfully.

I'm happy to report that I've jumped on the Bailey's and Hot Chocolate band wagon... and does it ever feel good. I stopped off at the Liquor store on my way home yesterday to pick my sister up some wine and decided to get a little something for Kaylee and I. I don't normally ever buy alcohol as it's so expensive and I'm not a big drinker, but I figued I'd go a little crazy. Obviously this whole Bailey's train is huge as they were completely sold out of the regular stuff and had a back order out for the caramel one. They did, however, have a couple bottles left of the mint chocolate one.... mmmmmmm. Soooo yummy.

Tim came home from his trip yesterday and regaled us with his stories. It sounded like he had a fantastic time and it just makes me want to get out there and explore some more. It was interesting to listen to him talk about someplace that I've never been. I'm sure that the way I was picturing the places he was describing wasn't the way thry looked like at all. It makes me wonder what everyone else pictures when I describe things that I've seen. Which makes me realize that I've gone through some of Kait and my pics and I've picked out a few of my favourites which I can post.

Kait and I on the beach in Lagos, Portugal. This was such a beautiful place!

Decorating Diva's

So Kaylee and I mad a fantastic trip to IKEA today to get some sweet stuff for our living room. We bought pillows and amazing pillow cases, candles, a coffee table, curtains and a throw. I think we might take the throw back though as the colour of our couch actually doesn't look too bad with what we got. The coffee table is pretty sweet and it wa sonly $30. Then we went to Home Depot, picked our paint colours, and bought our paint!!! It's so exciting!! I don't really like paining, but I know it's going to look so good after. Our house is going to be decorated to match our personality so well. we're going for an Indian stlye theme in the living room with red, orange, purple, green, and gold. The walls are going to be a deep rich purple and there are candles everywhere. I'm actually writing this right now siting on the couch with the sweet pillows in the candlelight. I know, I know.... every guy that comes over here is probably going to puke a little, but we love it!

We also got yellow paint for the kitchen, hallway, and entrance. If anyone has free time this week and feels like painting, let us know as we'd love the help.

I don't really have anything in depth to write about right now. I'm just kind of floating through this holiday season so far. I love getting gifts for people and am actually a little depressed that I won't be able to get as much for eveyone. The good part is that I've become more creative with what I will get (or make) and I find that it can often be more appreciated than the bought stuff. that's all for now.
